Dear Em Be,

It is rare to come across a person who can make an obviously tremendous impact on your life in such a short span of time... you are that person to me.
It is rare to encounter someone who will take you in as their own and teach them according to all you know... you are that person to me.
It is rare to meet someone who will make you want to walk with more integrity and value... you are that person to me.
It is rare to be away from a person in proximity and think about how much you'd like to jump into their presence so you can hug them and tell them how much you love them... you are that person to me.
It is rare for someone to feel like they have a family and a strong support system outside of their own family... you are that person to me.
It is rare to find someone who can inspire and motivate you daily... you are that person to me.
It is rare to find someone you know can read you like an open book, yet feel completely loved, accepted and cared for... you are that person to me.
It is rare to find someone who helps you to believe in yourself and establish the will to press on... you are that person to me.

It is common to say thank you but rare to contain so much meaning behind the thank you. You evoke the passion behind the thank you. Thank you for being that person to me.

One

He was telling me about her travels to India as a school teacher and how she got the chance to spend time with kids who appreciated the smallest things such as the human touch. It makes one wonder, how often do we take the "little things" for granted?
She worked in a classroom the other day. A little boy sat in the corner and was said to be "slow" and incapable of keeping up with the rest of the class. He barely spoke any English and had difficulty doing just about any and every assignment she was directed to teach. She tried to help him and include him regardless. He cried every morning before going to class. His Mom stood with him until it was time to leave and you could see the pain in her eyes every time he held onto her leg crying.
The teacher did her best to include him. He got only about 1% of the work done in comparison to the rest of the class and when she tried to place him in table groups with the other children, he refused because he was ashamed of his lack of ability. The teacher smiled at him and helped him every chance she could. In the middle of a lesson she was teaching he ran to her and hugged her legs, smiling up at her. He repeated the gesture every day she was there and she responded with outstretched arms, ready to embrace him.
One could interpret the hug and smile as a gift of appreciation for accepting him regardless of his abilities or lack thereof. Out of all of the kids in the classroom, he is the 1%, whom, with teamwork, has a 99% chance of finding the way to a brighter day.

Aunt Teresa

Theresa, our family's Devine nun and Great Aunt, resides in a Edmonton, Canada at a renewal center. She is way too cute for a 95 year old lady if you want my opinion. I have to share a story with you about her.

Just recently, a guy came to the convent looking for her. She came to the door to meet him and he handed her an envelope. She opened it and found $500 cash.

It turns out she had given him $75 years ago when he was homeless and struggling and he came to thank her for her kindness.

God bless the man and her for their kindness.

Dolphins

Dolphins are one of my favorite animals. I’ll always remember the story I heard about dolphins helping humans because it opened my eyes to one of the most wonderful creatures in the sea… dolphins are just as cute as can be and I’m hoping they’ll always play around me.
The story goes a little something like this:
A group of teenagers were getting life guarding lessons somewhere on the outskirts of Australia. One dolphin came swimming over and called another, followed by a few more, and soon enough… A swarm of dolphins surrounded the group and swam circles around them for hours. Every time one member of the group attempted to swim away from the swarm, they would bump the human back into the middle of the circle with the others. This went on for about 4 hours when finally the instructor got a glance of a huge shark swimming under the pack of dolphins. The dolphins were saving the humans from a potential attack. When the shark left, the dolphins did as well and the group of lifeguards were able to return home safely.
Enjoy the video. Love.

Cupid's Arrows

Who is Cupid?
What I like about this painting is how it depicts Cupid as a child.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/gatesfoundation/5635755882/in/set-72157626534585728/lightbox/
Who are we?
What I like about this photo is it fits right into the museum and its so easily available to us.

This photo is one I was inspired to take at the museum.
What I like about this photo is the woman with child in a calm and peaceful setting.

What I like about all three artistic displays is how all three are female/woman with child. The reality is, if you lift a woman, you lift a child... and the reverse is also true.

Interpretations

This is the first photo of a painting I took at the Getty. Camilla thought this painting was scary looking so I took the liberty to post it just for her! :D What I like about it most is the description, "evoking a child's perceptions of a world scaled for grown-ups" because the main focus is according to a child in the work. After I read the description I stared at the painting for a while thinking about how children must interpret this incomprehensible world built for adults. I like how the artist made everything so large around the little girl who stands somewhere in between apprehension, love and wonder.
I like this painting all the way from this guy's pose to his expressions, fashion and movement. The portrait evokes a relaxing and lite energy, that of which I thoroughly enjoy.
This painting is one of my very favorite. I like the look of the girl, the colors used to frame and outline her features, her expression and the entire scheme of the portrait. I suppose I was drawn so much to this one because I can identify with and almost see myself in her.
This painting... I mean, how would you not think its amazing? This piece by Claude Monet makes me want to just hop in and get on one of the boats to see what's going on. The painting is stunning, to say the least.

More to come from the Getty. I hope you are enjoying your introductory impromptu tour. :)

Exploring the Getty

The Getty Museum is located off of the 405 fwy in Los Angeles and is home to an extensive collection of visual arts pieces we had the pleasure of exploring. When you arrive at the Getty, the parking structure leads you to a tram, which you then take to the center to explore all there is to offer at the Museum. When you arrive inside of the greeting area at the center, you will find maps to help direct your journey.

The Italians and I browsed through a few different areas of the museum and were able to enjoy works from various artists. This fountain below is one that stands in the center of the museum and looks refreshing to take a dip in, although you might get in trouble if you tried swimming in it.The outdoor areas also contain magnificent views of the entire surrounding areas of Los Angeles.

On the next blog I'd like to share a few of the pieces with you that caught my eye.
For now, I hope you're having a wonderful day.

Thank You Thank You Thank You

I'm just sitting here pondering the moment and tasting peace and silence. Its not necessarily because there is no noise in the room. Actually Sunny Rollins is playing on Pandora Radio and a TV is on in the upstairs room. My head feels clear and the path is starting to light up in the most impressionable ways and for that I feel at peace. I am beginning to realize the ways being thankful multiplies and for that I feel grateful... and because gratitude multiplies you will go on the Thanks kick as well... after all, it was just Thanksgiving in Canada. Should we not all celebrate together?

On the other hand, I can't seem to get my pictures to load from the Getty, hence, I don't want to start my Getty series without them so I just decided to tell you all about it. God is good. Art is beautiful.. and I can't wait to get the photos loaded so I can properly introduce you to the Getty Museum.

Love.

Museum in LA

There are many wonderful museums to visit when you are in Los Angeles. One of my favorite museums is The J. Paul Getty Museum http://www.getty.edu/museum/ . I've always liked to visit the Getty. They are constantly having interesting events and the art is amazing! When I was a kid I didn't appreciate the art work as much as I do now, so I enjoyed walking around in the garden. The museum is inspiring for both adults and children, leaving all who visit walking away with good memories, information and new found sense of enlightenment.

Traveling

Hello everyone! Today I will be talking a little bit about traveling. Have you ever sat and watched people at an airport? I love doing that. You always seem to meet & see some interesting characters. Today I saw one guy who was dressed like a woman with high heel boots on and a mini top hat with his hair matching it. I'm not sure how else to explain that but I didn't take a picture because I felt it would be sorta rude.

*** Anyway, me and my Italian sister were picking up her little sister and while we were waiting we ran into a lady who was trying to make a call in the US from a payphone at LAX airport. *Here, when you are making a call, you need to dial 1 first, and then the number.* Some people don't know that. *The only time you don't use a 1 before you call another number is if it is in the same area code or if you are calling from a cell phone.*

Helping her out helped me to get a few ideas... what if I just went and sat at the airport, greeted and helped people and wrote about things I see and people I meet? People are saying hello, hugging and kissing goodbye... and some are starting a new life, others going back to their old. I mean... its pretty interesting, right? Then I thought of some other cool ideas and I think I'm going to have to do a few or all of them. :)

Speechless

Disconnection to find connection and connection we find
Full plate with an appetite for only half
Expectations are only what is expected
Moments and time surpass
Let go of things unchangeable
Impact positively
Rest and recuperate
"Remember the past, plan for the future, live for the moment"

Its easy to speak empty words but emotions choke up words with weight so heavy only touch can provide relief

In your arms I find comfort and nurturing
In your presence I find my dreams
In your light, I shine
In your darkness comes my moon
In your laughter I find joy
In your sorrow I find regret
In your smile I see mine
In these moments I render myself speechless

Desire vs. Need

I liked her voice so much I had to add another! I hope you enjoy! "Maddi Jane - Price Tag (Jessie J)"

Relax and Push

"How do you feel?" He asked.
"I feel grateful." She said.
"What do you see?" He asked.
"I see love. Thank you." She replied.
"My pleasure." He responded with a smile.
"Thank you." She hugged him crying.
"Why are you crying?" He asked.
"All of it..." She continued... "I don't know what to take and what to make from all of it. Every time I look at anything now there is new pleasure as well as a new set of wounds and I'm not sure how to go about dealing with either." She said.
"Relax and push." He said.

Perlei

Sollevare esso

Jazzy

Last night a friend and I attended a Jazz Festival. He hopped in my car right before I pulled into the parking structure as I was thinking of how I want to attend a comedy show at the Brea Improv again, which was located right across the street. I was wearing my heels and got so excited walking down the stairs that I practically flew down about 4 of them after I missed one. We laughed and made our way into the crowd.

The stage was huge and there were a ton of white seats with people sitting, waiting for the show to start. We found our chairs and the music began playing. I was stunned. The music was so tasty, instruments diverse, and the musicians just seemed like they were having the most wonderful time! The energy from the stage most definitely rubbed off on the crowd and soon enough, the majority of people who were seated were crowded together on the dance floor.

I noticed the event was sponsored by "Total Woman Day & Spa" & ironically received a text from my cousin when I read that. I text her back, "Hey, have you ever been to the Brea Jazz Festival and is your new gym Total Woman day & spa?". Her- "Yeah it is!!! Aw damn! I've always wanted to go to that! How is it??" Me- "Its so awesome!!! You should come for sure!... Fridays & Saturdays" Her- "O wooo wooo!!! Let's go!!!"

I watched everyone light up with brilliancy on the floor and felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the ability to attend such an event. It reminded me of when I was staying in a small town in Italy when there was a city get together. Everyone dressed up like the characters on "Grease" and they held an American festival that is put on every year. The jazz festival reminded me of celebrations from the Italian-American event with an entirely different atmosphere, but same type of appeal; Unity, acceptance & dancing among joyful people.

Casa of URM

I drove into a neighborhood I had frequented before in Downtown LA for shopping and such. Just a few blocks from the shopping areas, I followed directions into streets filled with homeless people. The sidewalks were lined with people of all sorts... some laying on the ground & some walking, while other groups stood and chatted among themselves. I thought of them in the hot weather and remembered a paper I read about how there is a group of people who go out on the streets to pass out water when it is over 80 degrees outside. I felt thankful.

I pulled into the parking structure and was warmly greeted by my new buddy (a former homeless man). He had opened a spot for me by moving his own car out of the way & made me smile huge. I was on my way in. I walked into the building that had become already somewhat familiar to me visually when I was greeted by a homeless younger woman in the lobby. She told me she liked my hair, which I'd pulled loosely into a side french braid. She said she used to be a hair dresser.

Does she know she's more than qualified to give & be complimented?

I thanked her and made my way to the bathroom. When I walked back to check in with some kind people at the office, she greeted me again. "You know, you should work at Disneyland or something" she said. I looked at her with a puzzled grin. "Really? You think so? Why do you say that?" I asked. "Because you're really nice and smiley and it just seems like you could work there." She responded. I giggled, "Thank you so much. You are too cute." I said.

I wonder about her.. How she got to where she was and what she is doing now. I closed my eyes as I walked into the office and envisioned her as a hair dresser, laughing and visiting with ladies who want to feel beautiful just as we all do. I prayed.

Light so Pretty

She faked a smile as he approached her as she'd grown accustomed to doing all night
"Hey" "Hey"
Small talk as usual
Conversation continued as the lights twinkled above the mingling crowd
Her fake smile turned real

They grew closer and she opened up, requiring the same from him
The wound bled and time spread
They moved on ahead
We need each other

Time and place made for us
Give life, breathe easy
Promises to live by

Pretenders
Pretend
The crowd rolls on
Finding place in this human race

Throwing pitches, catching balls
People passing by in malls
Self expression illuminating the soul

Above

The blood goes rushing like water through my veins
I look up for direction, correction, protection
Not just for me, for everyone you see
There is no use in asking why, only how
How do we love?
Do we love in sharing, in caring, by example, for example?
Magnify it so it can set fire to what is so necessary... Love.

Sea of Awareness

Warmth on bare skin, you embrace me

Rock and roll in your arms.
Child-like wonder

I stand on your buoyancy; top of today.
Clear view, picture perfect.

Your foam floats across my toes; Dancing on top of the world.
 Healing flows electricity glows
You move me, move mountains
You nurture me while I crumble into the sea
Bubbles light on the sand

When I forget, you remind me.
In doubt, reassurance
Nobody's around, you are
Surrounded with light
Embraced by love, you stand by me.

You pull me through... Awareness.
I let go, I let you
You carry me in brilliant light on golden winged chariot
I love you, You love me
Thank you.

Interruption

You come next to me and my head spins in circles
Round and round and upside down
Inside out and outside in
Your presence does nothing less than make me grin

I wonder sometimes why you do what you do
I wonder sometimes when it will happen again
I wonder sometimes why I wonder
I wonder sometimes why I do what I do

Is it fate pouring from the depths of my unchained heart
Thinking we were not just playing the part
How did it all happen and where did it start
What can I do to pretend its just a part of the art

Grace

In and out of love
Remember who has a smile
Remember where the smile comes from
Remember the electricity in hands

Remember the shock
Remember the confusion
Remember the remorse
In and out of border

Forward movement pulls now
There is no going back
Touch Taste Smell Feel Hear
Former self no longer in existence

A time to remember
Grace Received with wings

Burn Through Me

Eyes searching here eyes searching there
I see your eyes everywhere
Looking glass burns through me
Like the back of my hand.. an open book

From the inside out
Right side up when I'm upside down
I see your eyes searching for me all around
Choked words vibrate the flow

What you wish you could say
What you wish you could show
Blood pumping through every beat
Strangled veins pushed to breathe
