Ziiiiinnnnnnggggg

The holiday season has arrived and we are going into celebration mode. A time for family, friends, laughter and good cheer. Decorations light homes and hearts like ziiiinnnnngggg (onomatopoeia). People feel happy, togetherness and warm wishes.

This is a time, along with every other moment we have in our lifetimes, to enjoy, smile and wish. My son Ellington inspired me making the ornament with these words because those were ones he chose. In the definition of enjoy it says "take" and that is something that made me look twice at the meaning. The reason for this is because I've been thinking about when it's fair to take and when we should just accept what is given.

In the definition for the word enjoy it says, "take delight or pleasure in". I suppose this is when it's acceptable to "take". This holiday season, I'm choosing to take delight and pleasure in the real ziiiinnnggers. The kind of people, places, things or ideas that bring the true spirit of Christmas to life.

Moon of Mine Children's Book

Moon of Mine is a book that can be enjoyed by both adults and children. The book has illustrations of the boy talking to the moon as if it were his parent. The illustrations of the moon are based off of the November 2014 moon cycle according to NASA. This is also the birth month of my first son who was the inspiration for it's creation. The moon goes through it's monthly cycle as the kid wants to talk to it and paint with it.

Man

Sometimes when I look at you, you look exactly like him. I think about what a brave soul you are to come into my life as you have, with new eyes, a new body, and a mind that has been around forever it seems. A soul that says, me before you.

Honor Our Veteran Rodney

I interviewed a USAF Veteran (and great family friend) a long time ago, and believe the information he shared contains honorable lessons to cherish for generations. As I write pieces of it I am in awe of our beautiful creator, once again, and thank Rodney for being such a strong man and guiding light to us all.

He graduated H.S. and didn't know where to go because he got kicked out of his house. His brother had joined the Navy and influenced him to get into service for an education and a place to live. He joined the air force and was stationed underground.
